ASK DR. LEE
Q: What insurances do you take?
A: Medicare and all major commercial insurances accepted at Cedars-Sinai. Examples of major commercial insurances include Blue Cross, Blue Shield, in-network HMOs, PPOs, EPOs (including those insured through Covered California), etc. Some patients choose to pay completely out of pocket. Please call the office (310-423-9600) for more information on accepted insurances.
Q: Do I have to get an injection? I helped my son move into college a week ago, and my back has been killing me. If I see you, do I have to get an injection?
A: No, you do not. In fact, the good news is that the majority of acute back pain will resolve within 3 months, and you do not necessarily need an intervention. Conservative therapy will suffice in most cases. Chronic back pain, however, is rarely cured. In addition to medication, physical therapy may be needed, even an injection. I craft the treatment to meet your individual needs.
Q: I have spinal stenosis, what are my options? I can't walk too far before I have to sit down. I get too many side effects from medications. Epidurals give me temporary relief, but I want something more permanent.
A: You may benefit from a consultation with one of our spine surgeons. Also, you may be a candidate for Vertiflex, which is an outpatient treatment option for leg pain from spinal stenosis, if medications and injections are not enough.
